Artisan Crafts

I have always enjoyed being creative and that enjoyment has grown into a love for many creative activities. As a child, I was never happier than being immersed in a wide range of 'making & creating' projects:  drawing in various media; making pottery; marbling paper; painting & varnishing cork placemats; cutting out & making theatre sets; crafting dolls; crocheting; making paper beaded jewellery, amongst other creative pursuits.

Over the years, Arts & Crafts have been a constant, even if only in the background; it is something to which I have always returned. Artistic expression combined with technical competence, and the striving for mastery in reconciling both, continue to absolutely fascinate me. There are still so many things I want to try!

Objects that are beautiful, enrich our lives. When those objects can be practical too, there is double the meaning to their existence. The sentiment attached to an item, whether it be something we received or to which we treated ourselves, only enhances its enjoyment and place in our lives.

Finely Decorated Pebbles

My fascination with these most wonderful of natural objects, started as a child, when I would play outside and look at the natural formations, in pebbles I found. I would turn them over for minutes at a time, exploring the different colours, textures, and cracks here and there.

Six years ago, I discovered my informal pebble collection had grown larger than I thought. I was inspired to decorate them, using the shape of the stone and the surface texture, to inform the design. As with much of my work, the design is organic and mainly free-flowing, allowing me to respect the materials, whilst adding my own aesthetic decoration.

My exclusive pebbles can be customised for your special occasions & gift giving.

Handmade Boomarks

Another lovely legacy from my childhood: our local kindly post office lady, offered me to choose a bookmark from a large display. That bookmark has been treasured always, and started the collection I continue to build up, to this day.

Bookmarks are not only practical objects, but can often be filled with sentiment, reminding us of a place & time we have visited, and perhaps the people we were with. Just as we may come to treasure the books we read, so too, can we become fond of the humble bookmark, our trusted place marker amongst the thousands of words, across which our minds adventure.

My exclusively handmade bookmarks are made from scratch and can, therefore, be customised to the size, colour & design you wish, from the range of choices I provide. I would be happy to source colours & finishes not yet shown in my forthcoming ranges.
